I hope this is not the reason why. From my past experience, when available, that kind of gauge tends to indicate more a trend than the actual. So for an expected normal range of 90-110°C, they stay at the same level while the value it is still within it. Hidding the value fosters to search the actual temperature and brings more questions once found.

I guess the main reason is that it allowed them to save some money and they did not think anyone would complain. My seller did not even notice that it was not available anymore...

What's surprised me more is the fact that even for M135i they did not consider that it would be something interesting to provide in the iDrive. As the information are avaialble in the M-Performance Race steering wheel, I don't think it would have been difficult to have them add in iDrive.
