HI guys,

Just wanting to see if anyone else has had issues with the 8sp auto. I noticed the other week that there was a slight jerk between shift 1 to 2nd gear.. after driving for a bit it kept on happening and even slowing down in the gears, it happen from 2nd to 1st. Then the drivetrain warning came up and put the car into limp mode.

Obviously i took the car to a mechanic and they cleared the errors and cleaned the plug and works fine. week later happen again, mechanic did the same thing only this time it was a transmission mechanic. Now his saying i could need an possible rebuild but will need to look into it more by actually removing the gearbox.

The bmw is a 2012 model 118i sportline and only has 72,000km on the odometer. WTF? any suggestions or help. The error that came up was "gear ratio monitoring during gearshifts 5 - >x" and "ICM - direction of travel cannot be determined"
