Be careful that you don't apply too much heat if you are using a hair dryer, you could blister the paintwork.
If it is warm enough just use the floss.
A mate tells me that he used a spray of WD40 or similar lubricant as it allowed the floss to slide between the adhesive backing and the paintwork and wets the adhesive so it does not restick. You then wash clean the area with your car wash and polish the area with a cloth.
