Its an old prototype, if they are testing new technology for further addition for that vehicle in its life cycle they test alongside standard disguised prototypes from the very beginning and even after launch that prototype will still test because it is for further inclusion. In this case this the X5 eDrive the 40e which will be launched later this year.
Besides we already have a mini-van or as we call it the Active Tourer.
