Actually DSC is on all the time, unless you press the button and enable DTC. If you hold the button for some seconds, both DSC and DTC are turned off, and ADB enabled.
For a rookie driver, DSC is best in winter conditions. For experienced drivers, DTC is better in snow. For advanced driving, ADB is even better.
