Have you checked if the real world performance of the 116i and 118i are similar to the specified figures from BMW? That is not always the case. Sometimes the difference between two models is exaggerated by the marketing department to justify the extra cost.
The 116i is supposed to have 136 hp at the flywheel. Mine is not modified, and perhaps not even completely broken in, and a dyno run revealed 139 rear wheel horsepower. We can only guess how much there is on the flywheel, but the difference up to 170 is not all that big...
