I hear ya. I wish BMW used a sub-brand for this category of vehicles (e.g. i, Saab).

However, it's got electric RWD, so if the engineers program it to kick in at the right times (e.g. hard acceleration, cornering), it doesn't have to drive like a typical FWD appliance. *fingers crossed*
