My car has been in again for 3 weeks and if you look in the photos i attached the problem stents from the structural beams that cross the roof the tension causes a knocking/ tapping, the problem was with the one closest to the tailgate where it meets c pillar they fixed this by using a wax oil and inserting this into the joint to prevent noise and allow movement. they learnt a mechanic how to do it as a trained BMW bodyshop failed to fix the problem after 3 attempts
i have been told that it is the most common problem in hatchback cars as a lot of strain gets put on the rear cross support beam
