Well, when she drove it, and she loved it, you have done what's required to make a sound decision. The 114i seems to have good press, and it still is a genuine bimmer with all its virtues. Also, the 114i is very frugal, cultivated and still seems to deliver a mild shove at low rpm's!
My only advice would be to keep this car a bit longer than 3yrs and 9000mls... it will save you some money probably.
