In the f20/21 the 114i, 116i and 118i use the same 1.6 litre turbo petrol engine with 75, 100 and 125kw power outputs.
Driven the same they will all do vitually the same miles to the gallon. It's all down to purchase price v's power.
The 125i is a 2.0litre turbo, M135i is a 3.0litre turbo.
In the diesel cars the 114d and 116d ED versions are 1.6tdi, the 116d, 118d, 120d and 125d are all 2.0tdi but the 125d has two turbos.
If you are financing you may find a pcp on a 116i is only a little more than the 114i as the gvf is higher. As running cost are the same the little outlay is well worth it for the extra power
