Not all new by a long way, they just facelift heavily and call them different models.
The B7 Passat is exactly the same car as the B6 and that was launched in 2005.
The Mk5 and Mk6 Golf are virtually the same car too.
Small car platforms can run even longer. The PQ24 platform for the Polo/Fabia was launched in 1999 but it's still being sold today.
VAG are masters and changing front and rear ends with tweeked interiors and passing the cars off as new.
