BMW will make FWD cars whether we like it or not. It will hurt the integrity of the brand, since BMW has been doing some quite aggressive marketing against FWD in the past. They also used to say that naturally aspirated engines were superior to turbo, but they had to eat their own words. The problem is that many of the enthusiastic customers still keep BMWs old values. Losing enthusiasts will probably not affect the bottom line much, but it will change the brand. It will be more like Ford, VW and Toyota, and less of a dream car without the support of the enthusiasts that worship the brand and preaches its superiority to the masses.
