SMG, V10 internal oil leaks, vanos oil pump and rod bearing failures. Also the slowest track times of any M5 to date, IIRC. The E70 X5M is a better vehicle than the E60 is, was or will ever be, and it's not even in my top 25. The E39 M5 was a much better car. The current values of the two models prove that.
For me it's a toss up between a few cars I've yet to own, and may never own. I've driven all of them many times however-
