Correct. I wouldn't mind having the high mileage diesels here from many German makers but they don't think Americans will buy them. Also, the station wagons/club versions were pretty much legislated out of existence by carter to save gas. The idea was to get Americans to buy more fuel efficient vehicles. The reverse effect happened. Americans bought vans and the mass market SUV took off as suitable replacements. Now Americans don't buy them for family use anymore which is why those models don't ship here anymore.
